Originally trained as a physician in Seoul National University Medical School, I spent three years implementing several epidemiological field surveys and performing community health programs at a community health development project sponsored by WHO and Seoul National University. After finishing an internship program at Seoul National University Hospital, I trained in preventive medicine at Department of Health Policy and Management of Seoul National University Medical School. I subsequently obtained a PhD in health policy and management and the Korean board of preventive medicine. I was a visiting professor at the Center for Social Epidemiology and Population Health, University of Michigan School of Public Health. I have been at the University of Ulsan College of Medicine since 1999 when I was appointed as a research fellow in preventive medicine. I teach on the socioeconomic health inequalities, health behaviors and health policy. |
